Dr. King takes the helm of Phantom during the Saturn Mission

Dr. King purchased a new boat in May 1975, which he called Phantom. It is 24 feet, 8 inches in length, and has a dry weight of approximately 5,700 pounds, which makes it a very heavy vessel, but one still capable of speeds of up to 50mph when on Lake Powell.

It was purchased because it was suitable for cosmic standbys and preliminary research in Operation Sunbeam. Since then, Phantom has been used off the coast of California in preliminary survey probes directly connected with the future of Operation Sunbeam, and later for important research connected with Operation Sunbeam Plan B. Phantom was used in six phases of the Saturn Mission from 1982 to 1984.
