Dr. King in Combe Martin

A small bungalow was purchased in Combe Martin (Devon, England), and was referred to as The Retreat. Dr. King spent as much time as he could at The Retreat, which suited him perfectly. He even spent his first Christmas in the UK for 25 years at The Retreat. His trips always included work projects of one kind or another. For example, he would take holy shapes belonging to members to give them his personal blessing.

He generally climbed Holdstone Down where he received significant inspiration appertaining to his mission. Away from the hustle and bustle of a headquarters, there was far more opportunity for reflection and attunement to the inner planes. He loved The Retreat because he could get away from things – he called it his fairy palace. He also found time for enjoyable conversation with his close companions whom he invited to visit him.

1) Dr. King during a visit to Holdstone Down.

2) Three of the visiting staff team during the Christmas period of 1983. All three women are still very active on the staff today, holding prominent positions.

3) Dr. King and Monique look over the beautiful little bungalow in Combe Martin, North Devonshire, which shortly afterwards was renamed The Retreat, and became the official special operations base for The Aetherius Society in this very significant area.
