Operation Prayer Power has since its inception been used for what has become known as “situation discharges”. This is when energy from the battery is released to specific targets in response to world crises of different kinds.

These discharges have been used: to target peace negotiations; to help minimize the impact of hurricanes; in response and in support of relief efforts after major earthquakes, major flooding and tsunamis; to help to relieve droughts conditions; and to empower rescue and aid workers.

In the first three photos you can see Dr. King coordinating discharges for Bangladesh, the Middle East crisis and the Mexico City earthquake respectively.
