For thousands of years, a mystical city has floated silently and invisibly above the Gobi desert keeping an exact orbit with the Mother Earth – its name, Shamballa. On the afternoon of December 5th, 1978, His Eminence entered a profound and elevated state as he prepared to visit this sacred temple of light.

His Eminence explains: “A tallish figure with a glowing countenance seemed to float rather than walk down the center aisle and, quickly without hesitation, mounted the round dais on which I stood. I immediately recognized the elevated being who called himself Buddha in one incarnation upon Earth, and who had taken over the spiritual control of Shamballa.

“He wore a large pendant around the neck which hung down to the lower chest, just about over the mystical heart center. . . Then the Lord Buddha turned to me and taking from around his neck the magnificent pendant put it around mine and stated: ‘You will fashion yourself a device like this and wear it during all your mystical ceremonies.’ ”

These photographs show His Eminence wearing an exact copy of the mystic pendant (which he had made) in his role as an Archbishop.
